Southwold Nursery — “Be all you can be and together we will shine”

The first steps in education are important for every child. At Southwold Nursery, we introduce children to the world of education through fun and engaging activities. We focus on the individual needs of each child and help them to develop the foundational skills that are so crucial in early years learning.

Our nursery is located on the site of our wonderful primary school, which ensures young children become familiar with the atmosphere of a school and spending time near older children. We’ve found this to be highly beneficial for children who progress from our nursery to our primary school, as they settle in quickly to familiar surroundings.

Our Provision

The Southwold Nursery provision is available for 2- to 4-year-olds and provided by a team of experienced carers and educators. Our nursery is open Monday to Friday between 9am and 3pm, giving parents the ability to choose a morning (9-12), afternoon (12-3), or full-day provision (9-3pm with a packed lunch).

With development at the heart of our nursery provision, we follow a curriculum focused around topic based learning through our whole school 'big question'. Children learn in an environment made up of calming fabrics, plants, lights, and mirrors to engage them and empower their creativity and imagination. Our teachers ask children questions to pique their curiosity and regularly provide opportunities for children to express themselves creatively.

Our Facilities

Complementing our curriculum are our fantastic facilities and resources. We understand that establishing an environment conducive to learning gives children the best chance to develop and progress. Southwold Nursery offers children a wide range of top-class indoor and outdoor facilities to stimulate their learning.

Our indoor learning setup is a zoned provision, with spaces for painting, modelling, listening, writing, reading, observing, and storytelling. Our outdoor learning setup is also a zoned provision, providing spaces for balancing and physical development, music, reading, playing with water and sand, and role play. We also have loose parts for imagination and creation, as well as an all-weather open play area and a marked bike track for older nursery children.

Funding for Children

At Southwold Nursery, we are delighted to be able to offer free education and childcare for 2-year-olds as well as 15 hours’ and 30 hours’ free childcare to 3- and 4-year-olds. We understand the financial impact nursery can have on families, so we are pleased that the parents of children attending our nursery have access to support funding.

The funding is provided by the government. To secure the funding for your child, visit the government website by clicking the relevant button below.

For 3- and 4-year-olds, the sessions cost £15. For our 2-year-old provision, sessions cost £17.50, or £35 for the whole day.
